Climate change in East Africa is a long-term shift in global or regional climate patterns caused by human activities, such as burning fossil fuels and deforestation. It presents challenges such as more frequent and severe droughts, changes in rainfall patterns, extreme weather events, loss of biodiversity, and negative impacts on human health. Urgent action is needed to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, adapt to changing climate conditions, and build resilience in vulnerable communities.
Climate change is a major threat to the people and ecosystems of East Africa. From droughts and floods to rising temperatures and sea levels, the impacts of climate change are already being felt in the region. As a youth-led organization, Horn in Focus is committed to addressing this urgent challenge through a range of initiatives and programs.
Our work in East Africa focuses on promoting sustainable practices and behaviors that can help to mitigate the impacts of climate change. This includes initiatives to reduce carbon emissions, protect and restore ecosystems, and promote renewable energy. We also work to increase awareness and understanding of the impacts of climate change, and to build the capacity of local communities to respond to these challenges.
At Horn in Focus, we believe that the youth have an important role to play in addressing the impacts of climate change. We provide a platform for young leaders and change-makers to connect, collaborate, and take action on this urgent issue. Through our work, we seek to build a more sustainable and resilient future for the people and ecosystems of East Africa.
Horn in Focus has successfully implemented over 20 projects with top scores and has built a strong partnership network with over 15 organizations in Europe and 7 in East Africa, enabling us to broaden our impact and work collaboratively to address urgent challenges.
