During last night, police were alerted to Rinkeby where a man in his 20s was found shot. The man was taken by ambulance to hospital where he later died. The tragic event that took place in the middle of families with children at 6 pm has shocked many in the area and confidence that gang violence will be reduced is low.
According to a Sifo survey commissioned by Expressen, as many as 58% believe that gang violence will instead increase in the next year, and confidence that efforts by politicians and the police will be able to change the dystopian belief in the future is reported to be low.
SUIS deeply regrets the grief for the family and relatives of the victim and shares the concerns and grief of residents and relatives.
We have seen all the parents, siblings and relatives of the victim’s tears and heard their cries for help, and just like them have had enough! We want by all means we can ensure to improve the future and the feeling of security for everyone with connections to the area, but we need help.
Somali Community will now hold a meeting where how we can save our children is on the agenda. We do not believe that the police and politicians alone can make the necessary changes.
We believe that parents and enthusiasts must be involved in the fight to make the area safer and to the nice place it deserves to be.
We have to get organized! We need to talk to our children. We must offer safe places to come to, and safe adults for young people to talk to. We can not accept that more children and young people fall victim to the darkness of gang crime.
During the autumn, we will place great emphasis on community development and parental support and welcome all thoughts, ideas and efforts.
If you want to work as a volunteer, want support, have questions or concerns, or are looking for someone to talk to, you are always warmly welcome to contact us. We are here for you.
Together we must make a difference!
